About Us
We are a traditional New England family farm located on 15 rolling acres outside the small town of Putney, Vermont in the Connecticut River watershed. Our goal is to farm in a way that will sustain and enhance the productivity of the land. We raise heritage breed livestock to help maintain genetic diversity. In the tradition of small, diversified family farms we keep a variety of animals including Old English Babydoll Southdown sheep, Nigerian dwarf goats, heritage breed chickens, and bees. In addition to pasture for our animals and hay for the winter we currently have 200 strawberry plants, vegetables, fruit trees, and grapes under cultivation.
Our Vision is to be part of a Vermont local food system which is self-reliant and builds living soils which nurture animals and people. We use only organic and natural practices on our farm. An 18th century New England farmer would immediately recognize virtually all of our practices and equipment (which, depending on your outlook, makes us either slow learners or regressive progressives ;-)
